The Holidays

Sunday and I am now on holiday until May!

All good this end and am still hooked on old movies. Right now I am watching Robert Altman's The Long Goodbye with Elliot Gould. Ready to be watched are; Mash, Death of a Salesman, Cape Fear (Original), Thunder Road, The Long Hot Summer, Prime Cut (Lee Marvin), This Sporting Life to name just a few.

Yesterday, I watched The Skull with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee which was actually quite good. I am searching for Robert Mitchum movies chiefly along with Gregory Peck, James Mason, Paul Newman, Robert Altman.

I am looking forward to resting and relaxing a bit. If I get bored there is always the gym.

Another Movie Night Masterpiece - Hud

After last weeks disastous RocknRolla which Don won't let me live down, a trumphant comeback earned winning approvals all around.

Hud - 1963 black and white Paul Newman movie. Absolutely fantastic.

Having health insurance woes right now.

Very nearly the end of term. Hoping I won't get bored in the break. Oi will soon be out of work and finish college - all in the same week. Private classes have yet to materialize over the holiday. I guess I will be going to the gym a lot.

I forgot about my compulsory 90 day reporting to the police station (despite having a year visa) and might face a fine today.

Trying not to drink Guinness with Tom at every opportunity.

Have got hold of Fifa 09, Ice hockey and Basketball for some 2 player fun.

Somebody Up There Likes Me

At last something to write about to make up for my last wet post.

I just watched this movie. A very early Paul Newman flick. It's amazing. Find it now and sit back and relish it. You won't regret it.

Early Wednesday

Early Wednesday morning and my Internet browers are playing up. Some error with Firefox right now. I have this new CometBird which runs smoother. I also got a note saying my blog had been flagged. Meaning someone objected to the content. Probably just me pressing the wrong button.

Staying on 'puters, a couple of game recommendations.

First it Burnout Ultimate box. The most amazing car game ever. The crashes are spectacular and it runs very fast and smooth. Just fantastic run zooming around crashing into stuff and flying over jumps.

Tomb Raider Underworld. Jaw dropping graphics and absorbing gameplay. The second level is in Thailand which is fun and you start in the sea around Krabi with the beautiful island and ancient ruins. I know very little about Thai history, but I am aware it has been the battleground of many warring tribes and it and it's borders have been attacked and changed many times.

Only just over a week to go at school and winding down now.

Still going to the gym and am feeling great as a result. I met a bloke from Portsmouth, funnily enough, he might come to movie night. Onto Paul Newman movies now.

RocknRolla was fun.

Pretty busy these days and life is fulfilling.

Oi had a bad time with some Chinese Nazi principle who accused her of being lazy and selfish. Oi has to bite the bullet for a couple more weeks before she can led the Nazi Death Camp. So many of these schools are just plain fucking awful. And the Chinese (sorry, Mary, you of course are soft and lovely) are renown for being mean and horrible. Gee, who is also Chinese tell me that they are thinking about money right up to the moment of their death. Thai people would rather sit under a tree all day. Make enough food to live and that's it. Certainly a more sustainable way of life.

Had a fun chat with Charles Collett the other day. I guess now I am projecting ahead to my trip to UK and Spain, torn away from my darling wife.

God Knows I'm Good

Made a fairly swift recovery from gloominess, thanks to Tom and the boys. Had a cracking night at the Co-Art and refrained from playing any songs as I was pissed and didn't want to blow it. Thank heavens I can maintain a level of reason. Tom, Don, Patrick and Danny were all there and some Thai buddies there too, including a guy who used to live in the house I shared with Kyle years ago. I told him the unfortunate story when Tom left his haul at Kyle's pad in BKK while he went to Cambodia. Upon his return Kyle and Joe had smoked nearly all of it. Tom did a massive job of restraining his anger and disbelief and we collectively up it down to smokers and nothing more. Sad though as that was everyone's supply down in dry Hat Yai.

Thanks Rob for those John Reed music tips. I am DL some of them now.

Tom told me last night of a great Woody movie where he is some Napoleonic foot soldier moaning about his runny nose in the midst of battle. Love and War, and it is on the DL along with about 6 others.

Having studied the Thaivisa forum a bit lately there is an interesting debate on Thai beer and I am sad to say that the general consensus is that Thai beer is basically crap. Fortunately here in Hat Yai we are able to buy Guinness that comes over from nearby Malaysia and these days is all I drink. I used to like Singha, but lately I had developed a dislike for it too. So, I spent a few Baht on wine or a bottle of Jamesons. It's definitely worth it. As my dear deceased girlfriend Sharon once told me, "I won't compromise on food." when I suggested something stupid one time when cash was tight. And so it should be with the booze too. But on a lighter note here is a libnk to a blog on a Thai beer that has raised a lot of discussion because it is so unbelievably disgusting; Cheers beer

http://beerasia.blogspot.com/2006/03/cheers-beer-probably-worst-beer-in.html

It really does have to be tasted to be believed. Fuck!@ It's just foul! If you see an imported can, you might consider buying it just to confirm the fact. It's so bad that it is actually bloody funny.

Black

Today, suddenly, I was overcome by gloom, which has, as yet, to abate. Maybe it is the pain in my lower back from enthusiastic exercise, or male hormones, or the crappy English camp I am forced to attend on Monday. I don't know. But I know when it comes. Rather like that famous outing to Songkhla with the marriage brigade. Anyway, I feel like poo.

I have bought some wine but am starting with a Guinness. Oi has gone to a rare dinner with school friends, and thankfully, Tom has come to the rescue by an invite to Co-Art with him and Don.

Tom is one of those guys, like Tony, who can pick me up just like that. Always happy and carefree. He is ideal and sought after company. I am lucky to have him as a good pal. It's funny, some people are so offended by me, and yet others, there is never a word passed in anger. Tom and Oi fall into the category. They are just too innocent. I know with Oi if we ever got into an argument, I envisage she would well up and start blubbing. And because I could never do that to her as she never says anything to offend, it is unlikely we shall squabble. Whether this is good or bad I don't know, but it is probably good for me. I can control my demons if I am left alone to do so. Something the Thais have been very quick to learn.

And Don? Don is as dry as I am, and we generally have a similar outlook. I think this is because he is Canadian and has a closer link to England and Australia as opposed to Americans, who sometimes, are like another species with strange opinions and values. Not all, of course, but I have meet a few who believe that America is everything and if you don't follow then you're not worthy. Folks like, Vince Bell, who I met in Nashville were perfect gents and very generous, of course. England too, of course, has a high proportion of Yob-oiks and scum like anywhere.

So, I suppose, if I rest and take it easy I can make myself feel better.

I am also in a Woody Allen download megathon and am currently acquiring a ton of his movies that have escaped my radar to date. These include; Another Woman, Deconstructing Henry, Manhatten, Curse of the Jade Dragon. Go check there are all at The Pirate Bay.

Manhatten

Wednesday afternoon and feeling refreshed from a tough gym session. Oh boy, I just hope I can keep up this tremendous effort. So far, so good and I have not missed one session in my thrice a week program. Jeeps, that 45 minute bike ride is really tough, especially in this soaring heat. Having returned, I have found that an old Woody Allen movie, Manhatten has downloaded and been burnt to disc. This shall probably be tonights movie at Movie Night. Though a close contender is a cartoon by Bill Pympton called Hair High. You should check this guy out, his cartoons are very trippy and funny.

Also downloaded is the album Dead Elvis by Death in Vegas which Eddie (doesn't like furniture) used to recommend to me. I met Eddie in Iceland. He worked for OS (Ordinance Survey) down in Soton. Sadly, lost touch. Death Cab for Cutie is also soon to be glistening the audio play device on the electronic brain.

Oi is 3 months in the family way and her initial pain has eased somewhat. She is also a bit more demonstrative these days and not completely clamlike.

School is going well and really we are in the slow wind down to the end of term. Smart English is still dogged by crap management decisions and another English Camp due next Monday and still an unwillingness to invest in equipment to make it fun. It stinks and I hate it. I have expressed my disgust to Phit. She can send the messge up the ranks if she wishes. Patrick has talked of moving on as he is fed up with the anal decision-making skills of the powers that be, but has stated he will not work for the white man - known for his deception and cuntishness in this land.

Having been exercising, I am generally feeling rather superhuman these days and can't lie about as much as I used to, which is a bit crap but it goes with the territory. I guess once the bairn arrives I will enter a new zone that I am at this moment unable to conceive, right Peter?

Before then I am obliged return to the Western world to witness the execution of my kinperson and see him enter the state of Holy Deadcock.

How are the clams in Spain? I expect they open up readily enough to a light dressing of vinegarette de espanola, Olive oil and a hint of spice before being thrust into a cauldron of boiling pure liquid hydrogen and oxygen, no doubt.
